Ethnic group: African/Black

Spirituality.

There are so many beliefs that are associated with being African but as instructed I will be discussing only two.Africans are very spiritual people especially when it comes to their ancestors,there is a certain belief around snakes and their colours. A yellow snake in your dreams apparently  communicates with you that your ancestors are looking out for you meaning that they are protecting you even if it's just showing up in dreams. This shows a strong correalation between Africans and Spirituality and it's importance to them.

Culture.

We have different cultures a wide variety of them. There is a common belief in most of them and that is initiation school for both girls and boys. In Xitsonga we call it ku khobya(this one is for girls) and they boys go entshaveni(the mountain) for their initial which teaches them about adulthood and responsibles. This is an example of a belief that has been passed on from generation to generation which still lives on till today. June is approaching and that is usually the time that these activities occur. I believe that this belief is limited to my ethnic group because I really do believe that this might be the one ethnic group that is big on culture.

Shaping my worldview. 

I believe that bothof these beliefs have shaped my worldview even though that now as a 19 year old I don't see things the same way I did before. I used to like the idea of going to the initiation as a girl back in primary school but as I grew up I started learning about how problematic it may be since some of these kids are basicially being groomed. I also believe that our ancestors really do visit us in forms of dreams to send us messages about the world and what might happen because really they are the ones that can see the world in 3D more than we can and I know they will always protect me
