How Two Teachings Have Shaped My Worldview

I've come across ideas and lessons along the way that have profoundly influenced my worldview and social interactions. Out of all of these, two particularly valuable lessons stick out as guidelines, influencing not just my perspective on life but also how I deal with its many events.

The Golden Rule is one lesson that has had a profound impact on me. It is a timeless idea that cuts over all social and spiritual differences.  Treat people the way you want to be treated is a straightforward but deep idea. Humanity is tied together with a golden thread of kindness and empathy that serves as a constant reminder of our connection and shared humanity.

I've come across variations of the Golden Rule in a number of academic and spiritual settings. My relationship with the world has changed significantly as a result of embracing the Golden Rule. It's a guiding concept that makes me stop and think about how my actions affect other people. The Golden Rule operates as a moral compass, encouraging me to develop empathy and understanding in my interactions with others in a society.

Mindfulness is an additional lesson that has had a significant impact on my perspective. Mindfulness encourages us to actively focus on the present moment and to embrace and be open to it. It's about meeting every occasion with curiosity and without judgement.

I've discovered how to develop a deeper understanding of my thoughts, feelings, and experiences through mindfulness. Practicing awareness of the present moment has been a life-changing experience for me, allowing me to overcome unconscious thought and behaviour habits.

Besides improving my own well-being, mindfulness has improved my social interactions and relationships with others. I've developed a deeper sense of self-awareness and increased my awareness of other people's emotions. the straightforward act of genuinely listening and being with others in their happy and sad moments—is something that mindfulness has taught me.

Being mindful has become my anchor in a society where distractions and rush are the norm—a place of calm within the chaos. I'm reminded to slow down, appreciate each moment, and see the beauty in the everyday by doing this exercise. I've discovered how to welcome life with wonder and thankfulness thanks to mindfulness.

the Golden Rule and mindfulness concepts have had a significant influence on how I view life and others. They inspire me to act with compassion and be present in every contact by serving as a reminder of the unique value and connection of all beings. These lessons serve as guiding lights for me as I travel forward, showing the way to a world that is more adaptable, caring, and connected.

my alarm is set for every day at 8 A.M so this morning I woke up at 8, got straight out of bed and went ti the kitchen to make my coffee. While the water ws boiling I made my bed and went back to the kitchen and made my coffee. I went and sat on my bed while I drank my coffee. Enjoying the taste of the coffee and the sound of birds chirping outside my window. Once a drank the last sip of coffee and stared out the window for a few minutes, just watching the sun shining down, I got up, took a shower and got ready for my day. Once I was dressed I made a breakfast wrap with scrambled eggs, bacon and tomato. I sat at the dining table and ate my breakfast, that was actually a bit too hot to eat right away, and drank a glass of water. After that it was about 8:55. I grabbed my backpack and went to pick up my friend for our first class. We arrived at the venue around 9:10 and our class started at 9:30 so we sat in the car and ate a snack while we waited for class to start. After that I had another class until 12:45. I went home after my second class and made myself a cold cucumber snack while I watched "The big bang theory for a while". Soon after I started with with an assignment and worked on it for about an hour. I poured myself a cold bottle of water once I was done and started getting ready for my last class of the day which was from 14:30 to 15:45. I was very tired when I got home after class so i got myself a piece of cake out of the fridge, that was leftover from my mother's birthday. It was a very colourful cake with light blue icing and covered in speckled eggs. I ate my cake and continued with the series I am watching. Around 6:30 I make myself a very creamy lasagne and packed my things for the next day's classes. After I ate my dinner I did the dishes until they were sparkling, I then dried them off and packed them neatly back in the cupboard. I put on my pajamas made myself one more warm cup of coffee and spoke to my family while I drank it. After that I was absolutely drained and immediately went to sleep

otherness and stereotypes

Othering is a process whereby individuals and groups are treated and marked as different and inferior from the dominant social group. (Oxford university press,2017) It is a phenomenon in which people are characterized as not fitting in within the norms of a social group.

This subject goes hand in hand with the concept of stereotypes. A stereotype is defined by the Oxford dictionary as a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

The stereotype that is most commonly shown in my personal life, is the idea that women can't drive. When I first got my license I was in a small accident and everyone who knew would say that it was my fault because women can't drive. Since that day whenever I drive people think that something terrible is going to happen although I am a very responsible driver.

This stereotype creates an uncertainty under a lot of women, who will question their driving abilities because there is this idea, that was formed in a social aspect, that women can't drive.

There are a lot more examples when it comes to stereotypes, for instance, all blondes are dumb, all asians are smart or women are more emotional than men. In some individual cases this might be true, but to generalise these assumptions creates a barrier in the social community.

All of us has believed that a stereotype is true, at one point in our lives when in fact it was just one or two individual encounters we had. These assumptions of certain kinds of people create otherness among us, because they were treated differently or unfairly. It is important for everyone to realize that we need to deconstruct these views and treat everyone kindly and with respect, without creating an assumption based on their gender, appearance or where they come from.
