Sourcing my beliefs and values from my origin Ethnic group known as Zulu, people " AmaZulu ". AmaZulu of the Nguni are a native Ethnic or Population originating from South Africa. As a Zulu man my beliefs are strongly grounded by the teachings, hournering and respecting the ancestors known as "Abaphansi". As a male my responsibilities are calculated by the values of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, justice, freedom, advocating equality but dominance, peace, unity, love, respect, work, fun and overcoming the negative to the positive. A belief that is endogenous to the Zulu are the Ancestors. Ancestors presence in our lives is of paramount importance that we may be able to remain original and carry out information from our tribe from generations to generations so that we remain strong and independent. Ancestors  serve as our guardians, lecturers and protectors. Our ancestors reign from ancient times and they became glorified after the passing of our most celebrated Zulu King uShaka. Due to his teachings of military tactics and physical strength, men have now been judged from these. These values give men a sense of identity as the leader and the protector of nation or household. Men are respected when they posses physical strength and military tactics, even in the modern times these values are still stressed to boys from the age of 5. Without Shaka as the main ancestor of all Zulus this would not have been carried out till today. As mentioned our ancestors are to be honoured and respected, well we honour Shaka by continuing his beliefs. Furthermore Zulus are diversified by surnames and clan names, they do things in a different way but there is a link between them due to the values and beliefs of the Zulu people. From my clan a boy is to be taught how to handle heavy apparatus from the age of 5 so that they grow physical strength. This is to be of great value when one of our family member who posses the ability to communicate and receive information or commands from the ancestors. The boy will be the one to carry out the process of helping in the ritual or ceremony that is so be served to the ancestors. the boy at the age of 15 is given the responsibility to slaugther a goat or cow for the ceremony so that people share the meal and continue in the ancestors ceremony. When the boy is successful with this duty, he is no longer a boy but a man which means he can be trusted to hold, protect and represent his father's household when he is old. The boy will be made a ritual called umemelo, this ritual is to inform and introduce the boy to his ancestors and therefore he will take after his father's surname transitioning from his mother's. This is because The clan believes that a child belongs to the father's side of the family as he is the one who planted the seed and he is the one to reap what he sow.
