The stigma surrounding gender roles

10 Mar 2024, 23:04 Publicly Viewable

Growing up my dad was strict and always wanted things to be done his way by always imposing his interests in us his children. He would expect girls to do house chores and always wear skirts to prepare us for marriage. At first I thought it was the right thing to do because it was taught. But as I grew up I realized that I do not have to do all these things just because apparently I am a girl. Well reading novels completely changed the way I think because I learnt that gender roles do not really define who we are but how we conduct and present ourselves defines who we are. Marriage is just a choice and most certainly does not have to be overrated.

People's perspective of life differs from person to person which is why people should do what they are comfortable in doing without pressure from other people.
