Background:
The destructive economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have been seen throughout the entire world, in every country. Individuals and companies have lost their jobs and livelihoods and economies have been brought to their knees. The World Economic Forum (WEF), also warned countries of the "threat of a global pandemic in its risk report for the past 15 years, and the world is now dealing with the effects of failing to prepare for those risks".
Read the attached article from BusinessLive titled: WEF warns that world must brace for long-term threats to humanity and answer the question below.
Question:
With the background provided in the article and also with your own knowledge of seeing what has happened in the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic, what are the remedies that business and government can implement to try to curb or prevent long term threats to the South African economy and to better prepare economically for the next "pandemic"?
