• I enjoyed everything, especially whereby as students we were arguing about our view points on whether it is necessary for one to have university education in today's society.

Topic:Processing information-using sources and Processing information -critical reading.

What I have learned about the topic.

• I have learned about the use of scanning and skimming, especially when you reading a text.
• Different guidelines for scanning.
• I have learned that essay should contain an introduction, body and conclusion.
• The paragraph structure, the paragraph structure should include main idea at the beginning, middle and at the end.
• About the facts,opinions and informed opinions.

What I did or did not enjoy about this lecture.

• I enjoyed everything, whereby as a group we were scanning and skimming an essay given by the lecturer.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT THE TOPIC

• I have learned that the are different types of sources that you can for referencing your assignment,essays or your research.
• The is also referencing styles but we normally use NWU Harvard Style.
• Where and how to reference, we have in-text referencing such as direct quotations, indirect quotations and summarising
• what is reference list, referencing is a list of all in-text references
• How to locate appropriate sources.

WHAT DID NOT OR DID NOT ENJOY ABOUT THIS LECTURE

• I enjoyed everything about the lecture
• I now know how to reference and also using appropriate sources

• I have learned what is text, text can be in form of paragraphs, words or sentences.
• Different types of texts such as narrative, descriptive, expository and persuasive/argumentative texts and the academic writing process.
• Text can be informative, instructional, emotive and argumentative.
• An essay should have introduction, body and conclusion and assignment  requires planning.
• Reviews can be formal or informal.
• I enjoyed learning about the academic writing process and choosing topics for our next assignment essay.

2. Preview: Unit 2

• I have read about referencing and after you wrote your assignment or essay you should always reference it with different sources.
• I know different types of source such as books, internet articles, newspaper articles, magazines,journal articles and blogs.
• I did not understand referencing very well, I want to know more about it.
