LINKING DEVICES AND LOGICAL CONNECTORS

logical connectors and linking devices are those words hat merge sentences, paragraphs and lead the reader to know the logic of the essay. this helps in avoiding unnecessary data into being added on an essay.

our lecture gave us an essay in class where we pointed out he logical connectors used and this really helped in knowing how all logical connectors work differently.

i would like to learn more about transitional words

ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY

i learned in class that an argumentative essay must be convincing to the reader. the main objective is to pursue the reader into believe what has been written. one has to be able to support their points, touching on all basis and be able to back up their written work, be in an informed opinion or just an opinion.

it is vital for one to be able to draft a good argumentative essay because it is not usually easy to be able to convert somebody into believing one's work. i understood this clearly because our lecture even gave us an example of an argumentative essay to do in class and that broadened my understanding.

i would like to learn about logical connectors and linking devices the next class because that will hep me in writing argumentative essays.

UNIT 3 & 4

PROCESSING INFORMATION USING SOURCES & CRITICAL READING

I learned in class on how to find text using sources and references. i also learned that it is vital that your sources are valid so that it makes it easier to find text. furthermore, one has to use facts that are not outdated and can actually be proven. using old sources or fact that are no longer relevant can sometimes lead to one writing opinion s instead of facts.

I also learned how to structure an academic text, and to critically read a text. basically what it meant to me was that skimmimg & scanning text is important and save time. i learned the difference between a fact and an opinion. a fact can be supported by valid sources whilst an opinion is a mere thought of an individual. i enjoyed my class because my lecture was engaging and gave relevant, practical examples.

what i would like to learn in the next class is how to draft an argumentative essay and what information is relevant when doing so
