Music and holistic development.
13 Dec 2021, 10:57
Singing and music play an important role in our culture. You'll find music present in many aspects of our lives: theater, television, movies, worship, holidays, celebrations, and government and military ceremonies. At home, music can become part of our family cultures—a natural part of our everyday experiences.
From birth, parents instinctively use music to calm and soothe children, to express love and joy, and to engage and interact. Parents can build on these natural instincts by learning how music can impact child development, improve social skills, and benefit children of all ages.
Listening and responding to music

Listening and responding is one of my favourites for music lessons. Children can respond to music in so many ways!
Movement
Drawing (draw what you think of when you hear the piece of music)
Create a graphic score
Writing about it (how does the music make you feel/write a story based on the piece of music)

Lesson planning.
13 Dec 2021, 10:45
Lesson planning is the activity which the teacher performs before the actual lesson takes place. A lesson plan is a detailed description of the instructional strategies and learning activities to be performed during the teaching/learning process. This important preparation involves the following:
Identification of learning as well as teaching objectives, activities and tasks to be undertaken by both the learners and the instructor.
Sequencing of these activities and tasks.
Determining appropriate instruction aids, methods and references.
Deciding the proper organisation and or management of the learning resource available, environment and activities.
Determining evaluation process i.e. how the learner shall be deemed to have acquired the desired chance of behaviour or mastery of content and/or skills.
The importance of a lesson plan is that it enables the teacher to read ahead in order to enrich the content area and skill to be taught, to have confidence during the actual teaching/learning process and to logically present the content standards for effective learning.
Art intergration

Arts Integration is a research-based curricular strategy and has been utilized in classrooms for more than 30 years. It is grounded in solid pedagogy and numerous studies have supported its effectiveness.
But the perils of using arts integration fall in confusing using the arts in service of another content area with true integration. Here’s a set of key features to look for in authentic arts integration:
Standards-Based Foundation
One of the hallmarks of Arts Integration is that it is grounded in connected standards. When you’re creating or teaching a lesson, ask yourself: what standards am I address in both the content and the arts area? If you can’t identify both, it’s not arts integration.
Teaching in and through the Arts
When you’re working in an arts integration lesson, you’ll feel like the line between the content and the arts is blurred. That’s a good thing! In arts integration, the arts are an avenue through which students apply and connect the previously taught content. The arts are not servicing the content. Instead, both the content area and the arts area are interconnected.
