Study unit 6: Individuals reflection

10 Dec 2021, 08:16 Publicly Viewable

I have learned a lot in this module, a lot more about music. I have learned beat, rhythm, Tempo, texture etc. Arts integration and lesson planning. LSKM is quite a simple module when you are open minded and do your work on time. This has been the worst year of my life I never thought I would make it this far, but this semester honestly I never did my best.  I got lazy and lazy, and left behind in some modules. Sometimes I feel like quitting but there's part of me that doesn't wanna let go. I still believe I can do more and better than this and I am willing to.  It's been great working with my lecture and my mates. I hoping for the best next year.

Importance thing to keep in mind when planning lessons for foundation phase learners.

1.You must have clear objectives and goals

2.Lesson assessment

3. Learning outcomes

You should know who your students are. Know ability levels, background, interests levels. Get creative with your resources. Lessons should not be very long, your content and goals planned carefully

In foundation phase children learn by doing for example if you teach them a song they will be more interested in the lesson. i think by songs it help them to remember and recognise reapeated sounds and sound pattern. It gives learners the desire to learn and improves their creativity. Music relieves stress, at times school can be stressful so by doing music or listening to it, It can help a learner to relax and focus.  It helps the children's mind and body to work together as they will be singing and dancing at the same time and also help them to learn the sound and meaning of words. Music helps improves children's coordination movements since they respond positively to sounds and they get to explore what their bodies can and cannot do.

20 Aug 2021, 13:33 Publicly Viewable

Hey guys I am gonna start by introducing myself, my name is Onezwa Mphathiswa and I am from Eastern Cape but I grew up in Rustenburg. I want to be a foundation phase teacher because I really love children and I am so passionate about teaching. I am looking forward in learning more about LSKM. I take my time when learning new things so please bare with me. I really want to pass this module with distinction and I am to work hard.

The past week I have been learning/studying unit 1, about holistic development,  I learned about the value of music in holistic development and its theories. It has three theories which are Erikson's stages of psychosocial development, Piaget's cognitive theory and Vygotsky and the zone of proximal development.

Erikson's theory describe the impact of social experience across the whole lifespan. It focus on how social interaction and relationships played a role in the development and growth of human beings. Piaget's cognitive theory focuses on how children learn for example children through interacting with people and they built knowledge on existing skills. Vygotsky and the zone of proximal development It draws attention on the socio- cultural factors that influence cognitive development.

Five holistic development

Emotional, social, physical, mental and cognitive.
