Botswana seeks to attract investors to mining town with tax cut

Botswana will cut corporate tax by up to 77 percent for investors in a mining town southeast of the capital.  the trade and industry minister said that it is  part of a package to attract them to a region hit by the collapse of BCL Mine.Corporate tax in Botswana stands at 22 % while companies in manufacturing and financial services and those registered in the Innovation Hub pay 15 % corporate tax. Unfortunately the BCL mine was liquidated and cost 8000 people to lose their jobs.

Volgens Mnr Dawie Roodt , hoofekonoom van die Efficient-groep , reken dat Suid-Afrikaaners alles in hul vermoe moet doen om hulle belasting te kan verminder om sodoende die geld wat aan SARS betaal word te kan verminder. Roodt se dat die geld bestee word in die verkeerde persentasies. 43% van hul begroting word aan salarisse spandeer terwyl daar aan ontluikende markte slegs 20% spandeer word.
