South Africa is a developing country, which makes it a great space for improvement. Currently, South Africa has an unemployment rate of 26, 5%.the fourth quarter of 2016 released by Statistics South Africa, indicate that employment grew by 235 000 and the number of job seekers declined by 92 000 resulting in the slight decline in the unemployment rate by 0, 6 of percentage. The growth in employment was mainly driven by Services industry which grew by 73 000, followed by Transport and Manufacturing which grew by 46 000 and 44 000 respectively(Stats SA).
South Africa has a public policy that clearly states what government wants to achieve. Public policy is what the government tend to do or not to do. It consists of political decisions to implement programmers to achieve societal goals. One of the public policies in South Africa is the Nationa Development Programme, it aims to eradicate unemployment and eliminate poverty.a program that is more appealing is the EPWP which is aimed at giving people skills and equip them with the knowledge.
7D hologram technology
The significant development of 7D Holographic technology, its potential to revolutionize an aspect of teaching a learning, Entertainment, and challenge of implanting the technology in an education setting.Holography is the science of making holograms which are usually intended for displaying seven-dimensional images. It is a physical structure that diffracts light into an image. A holographic image can be seen looking into an illuminated holographic print by shining a laser through a hologram and projecting an image on the screen(Rushi R) .
APPLICATION OF HOLOGRAPHY
Holography is widely used in various fields of application, including art, data storage, security and so on. This section introduces some common applications of the holographic technique.
3D printing
A 3D image is a recording in an a few dimensional medium of the obstruction design shaped when a point wellspring of light (the reference pillar) of altered wavelength experiences light of the same settled wavelength touching base from an article (the item beam)(Macintosh News Network)
Nanotechnology
The ability to see nano-sized materials has opened up a world of possibilities in a variety of industries and scientific endeavors. Because nanotechnology is essentially a set of techniques that allow manipulation of properties at a very small scale, it can have many applications, such as the ones listed below(understandingNano.com).
Internet of things
The Internet of Things (IoT), sometimes referred to as the Internet of Objects, will change everything—including ourselves. This may seem like a bold statement, but consider the impact the Internet already has had on education, communication, business, science, government, and humanity. Clearly, the Internet is one of the most important and powerful creations in all of human history(.
South Africa faces the challenge of connectivity and accessibility for the adoption of industrial 4.0.It will need more private and public sector investment and incentives.first need to understand what is industrial 4.0?.Industrial 4.0 is the vision of increasing digitization of production, the concept describes how the so-called internet of things, data and service will change in the future production, logistics and work process. It can also be said is the next development stage in the organization of the entire value chain process in the manufacturing industry, its referred as the fourth industrial revolution. The concept of industrial 4.0 originated in German, its aim was to transform manufacturing industry by using high-tech computerization(Deloitte).
Is South Africa ready for such technological advancement? Smart technologies that accelerate industry 4.0 in South Africa in manufacturing level is more in automation and automotive sector.Toyota has injected an estimation of R6.1 Billion into South Africa’s manufacturing industry local vehicle production(SAnews).
For industrial 4.0 to be fully functional and efficient operational in a South African economy, the old and disparate IT system in manufacturing needs to be replaced or upgraded but cost implication is a key factor in harmonizing because this kind of technology does not come cheap. Electricity, on the other hand, remains a constraint for manufacturers for digital transformation towards industrial 4.0.
What challenges will industry 4.0 and country face?South Africa will face a great need of scarce skills in IT and professional experts in digital industry 4.0 .the will be a need to retrain or upskill labor workforce to understand and operate new technologies(Deloitte). The have to be involvement of both private and government sector in the process of training and development of digital industry 4.0. The has to be an active policy-makers to make the right decision that will benefit the society and the country as a whole.another challenge is the risk and fear of privacy, protection, and security.
Poverty as a societal divide
Industry 4.0 will have a huge impact on the economy of South Africa, which will be good and bad. The good impact will be that the infrastructure will be off high standard and production in the manufacturing will increase rapidly leading to more export of goods. The bad will be that the will be more jobless in the manufacturing sector leading to more gap between the poor and rich society. Internet of things will divide the society in terms of, those who are rich will benefit more in industry 4.0 and those who are poor will be left out cause they can't afford the kind of technology.
