Comparing leisure and recreation opportunities at the NWU and universities overseas, one can see thatvthe universities overseas (USA) are more wealthier than the universities in SA.

At the NWU there are only certain fields in which recreation opportunitiesand services sre svailablecwhich is recreational events, residence leagues, mind sport and conditioning programme that is hosted by the NWU. Recreational sports thst are presented at the NWU is such as rugby, tennis, hockey and netball, where the conditioning programme focuses on improving flexablities and balance, taking time to achieve goals and focusing more on health and well being than results. 

The Southern Illinois University has activities such as rock climing, back packing, land navigation and trail building ehich focuses more on skill building in the outdoors thst can be used in very different ways such as surviving that the NWU does not present. Morningside universityon the other hand i yet sgain,just likecthe NWU, more focused on sport recreation such as baseball and basketball, soccer and bowling, swimming and then wrestling (the only activity which contibutes to building skills).

Recreation and leisure is there to bring people together providing opportunities for social interaction and to provide balance between academics and social interactions, but sadly most universities only focuses on well being and sport. So to summerize...universities in the USA are more focused on building skills and socialise than the NWU.
