NWU Leisure and recreation activities- at the NWU one has to be a part of a specific team to be able to join the leisure activity, if not you cannot use the facilities of a certain activity if you are not a part of the group. for example, you cannot use the rugby fields if you don't play rugby for the university or for a residence.  and so with any other sport. This addresses students' developmental needs by forcing them to take part in the activities to be able to make use of facilities.

In the USA - the University's work a little different, one can use any form of facility to satisfy your recreational/leisure needs. You can use the rugby facilities even though you do not play rugby.
