BOITUMELO NAMANE

My Introduction.
My name is Boitumelo Namane . I am from Potchefstroom.
I chose to study Foundation Phase, because I love working with children. Its amazing to see how they navigate around the world or their enviroment when they explore things. I am passionate about teaching young children about themselves, their enviroment, how to live or survive a certain situation and how to be compassionate towards each other and other memebers of the society. I was anxious to start with this module as I did not know what to expect from it, but as I have been going through it, I am understanding what needs to be done. My expectations when it comes to this module is that , I want to make it fun for myself so that when I get to class I am able to give the learners more then just information.
Study Unit 3: Musical play in the foundation phase
10 Nov 2021, 20:46
What a month it has been? It has truly been a hectic month, demands everywhere, I feel like I am on Autopilat mode , which in my opinion is so unhealthy.
For this unit I will analyse the scenario that is given and answer the questions below.
1. What possibly made some learners uncomfortable during these activities?
The language that was used, not every child knows Zulu and the teacher didnt explain the song and give the children a clear explaination .
The dancing in front of the boys while learners are wearing dresses and also the different religions
2. Why were some learners uncomfortable?
Due to the fact that some learners do not resonate with the songs that are playing, and they do not understand the words from the Zulu song they were using in a game.
3. Can you think of ways to address these issues in future?
- the teacher needs to use the music that is appropriate to the students
-the language usage of the song should be explained throughout in order for the children to understand what they are dancing or listening too.
4. What will change?
-taking into consideration that we have different children who have different cultural backgrounds and that making learners understand the main reason as to why this game is being played.
5. How can we accomodate diverse learner profiles in our classrooms? What must we beware of?
we need to always beware of secular music that we listen to , some cultures do not take likely to that music, we need to play appropriate music that learners can also enjoy and the game or music must be in English.
Study Unit 2: Inclusivity

Hi Its me again.
Can't say that everything is well, but God gives His toughest battles to his strongest Soldiers.
I decided to go with contemporary commercial music, because there is a chance that the learners know the music or they have heard it. They consist of different elements that we can use to create a a beat.
Yes the content in study unit 2 is inclusive, they accommodate the learners needs. When it comes to different elements it is easier to show the children what to do , for example when it comes to the beat , when we take contemporary music it will be easier to merge body precaussions with the beat of the song.
From what I can remember while i was in foundation phase my teacher always put us in groups and that somehow help her know which learners need more attention then others, that gave her a chance to evaluate the childs performances and help them improve where they were lacking.

Hi its me again.
Wow what a week. Its been quiet hectic I must say, and every challenging as well. Today I do not have much to say , but I have learnt that its important to deal with your emotions right there and then, to avoid feeling overwhelmed and stuck.
Explain your understanding of Vygotsky’s zone of proximal development.
My understanding regarding this theory is that a childrens social enviroment plays a very important role on their social lives and also influences a child on a personal level as well. in most instances the enviroment that the child grew up in plays an important role in how the child thinks and what they are taught by the parents . scaffolding is one attribute that is able to help the childs development through guidance by the teacher. its important for the child o reciprocate what they are being taught so that the each can see if the child understands.
The most important aspects of the learning theories of Erikson, Piaget and Vygotsky for your teaching practice as foundation phase teacher.
When it comes to Piaget's theory it has made me realise the children think different to us adults and in most instances they may be amused by a very small gesture which to them might be amazing. i learned that they learn through imitations, play and speech.
Vygostsky's theory focused on the childs social enviroment and language development, which means that what they come in contact with they might think that things are done in that specific way. Interactive dialogues between teachers and learners is important it allows the child to be empowered in oreder to take responsibilities when it comes to their learning.
When it comes to Eriksons stages of pyschosocial development its main focus is based on the undustry vs inferiority stage. This theory mainly focuses on social interactions and the relationships that go with learning. During this stage the child gets to develop a sense of pride and ego. These traits help with the childs self-esteem and their confidence.
