Feminist Approaches.
- Women in Development.
In 1970s it had become very clear that women were being left out of development, and their common status and position in society was truly being made worse by development. And the WID approach realized the problem as the elimination of women from development programs and approaches, and the solution was to include women in such programs. WID saw women as group being treated as a missing opportunity to take part in in development and the main goal was to develop women’s access to resources.
- Women and Development.
WAD approach ascended in the later part of 1970s. According to Marxist feminist approach, the main argument of WAD was that women had always been part of the development processes. WAD declares that women have always been vital economic actors, women both work inside and outside the households and that is dangerous to the maintenance of society. The main focus of WAD is on the collaboration between women and development. WAD has always been disapproved for assuming that the position of women will develop if and when the worldwide structures become more reasonable.
- Gender and development.
In 1980s added reflections on the development experiences of women gave rise to GAD. GAD represented many feminist ideas, it is required to bring together both the lessons learned from and the limitations of the WID and WAD approaches. GAD looks at the influence of development on both male and female; it investigates to make sure that both female and male take part in and benefit uniformly from development and so it highlights equality of benefit and control. It also states women may be involved in development but not benefit from it.
- Postmodernism and development.
It goal is to disrupt the masculine norms rooted in society that have led to gender inequality.
