Theoretical Approaches to Social Problems (Conflict Orientation and Symbolic Interactionist Orientation)
Even in this modern age people judge you based on where you come from, our social class determines what resources we have access to. Even if one works endlessly in order for a better life in this democracy we are hold back by simple things like our class and even race although society will not openly admit that where you come from does help secure what future is expected from you. Conflict orientation aims in showing what society tries to deny like the current fight for financial inclusion for all students, whereas the majority is black student’s, and our very police attack unarmed students’ which opposites the very right to education that is said to be the key to our success. I ask myself had the front line of the protests been white students would of the police fired???
Symbolic interactionist orientation shows that the interactions we have with people help us shape what roles we believe are meant for us and not the ones that society has laid out for us. Rather that being what people expect you to be you as an individual can find out what role suits you thus allowing you to find your passion regardless of what society says about you. This aims in you creating your own identity based on what you believe is the best thing for you, as you interact with people you relate to this helps you grow and know we you fit in society.
