I learned so many things from classes and from our AGLE lecturer.
Things like how to write an academic texts and essay, how to find sources, the importance of using the sources when we write assignments, how to reference and how to formulate a list of references at the end of the work done. facts, opinion and informed opinion.my vocabulary has improved and also my writing skills.
I just want to say thank you to the lecturer who was there from the start to the end.she was very supportive and friendly toward us, more especially when we used to work in groups, consultations and rounds in class where she would explain everything for us if we did not understand. It was a good experience indeed.
Our lecturer should keep up the good work and continue to help others for the next coming years

We discussed things to be done in the assignment.
We focussed on the introduction and conclusion of argumentative essay that we were to submit as a group.
Our lecturer did her rounds by checking each group's work. Also told us about what will happen on our next class and things that are left behind that we still need to do.
Unit 5: Producing information-Writing for academic purpose
19 Sep 2017, 22:04
I have learned about the academic language and that it has to be formal not informal, concise meaning not too long, have to follow logical structure and be cohesive and coherent.
Formality is used in a situations that are very serious or involve people we don't know ( in written comments)
Informal is used in a situations that are not serious and and more related and involve people we know very well.
We answered with Yes or No to the photos that the lecture displayed on and ask questions.
We also did 3 class activities.
Counterargument lesson plan
12 Sep 2017, 22:55
I have learned about the counterargument lesson plan. It is the logical flow of the essay because it is also contrary, opposing, or disagreeing and argument. The aim of it is to persuade the reader.
The counterargument have steps to be followed
Step 1-what is your audience thinking
Step 2- make this sound like a valid thought but direct it.
We also discussed the contrast transitions.
We again debated the topic of:qualifications play a role in person's life and we argued about it in class.
Unit 5: Producing information-Writing for academic purpose
5 Sep 2017, 21:22
I have learned how to formulate an argumentative essay.
In conversational language: argument in this way will be verbal fight.
An argument is logical reasoning by using set of facts and words that are related to a particular text.
Academic argument is based on the interpretation of information or data collected from sources.
I also learned the about structuring an argumentative essay and that it is made up of sertain parts including; *Introduction-defination, background, problem statement and thesis statement
*Body- has to be 3 pharagraphs
and conclusion where the summary of everything discussed in the body have to be done
Unit 3: processing information- using sources.and Unit 4: processing information-critical reading
29 Aug 2017, 21:41
I have learned how to apply initial reading strategies to interact with sources effectively. I also learned few ideas of paraphrasing ideas in the texts and PEEL paragraph structure whereby I should always give a Point, Explain or evidence, Example and Link my points.
I learned about critical evaluation of what i read. I have learned to compare texts with opposing points of view and linking main ideas from these texts into coherent whole. And also to be objective as possible when evaluating facts and opinions.
Referencing
22 Aug 2017, 19:19
I have learned that when when i have a source i should reference it and make sure that i link my argument or points.
The source serve as an evidence to the information i provide. I have to always make a summary of what i have read from the source.
When to reference? Reference infomation that is presented formally and public domain in some ways, meaning not just private convesation orinformation presented publicly and tangible. Or is information subject to copyright.
Different types of source
13 Aug 2017, 23:23
From our last lecture I have learned that once I have my own ideas about the topic I need to find out about information that is available related to the topic.
Vaerity of sources the more types of sources and perspective, including, the more inclusive and comprehensive information and recoding of ideas is important.
Unit 2: Processing & Producing Academic Information-Finding sources
1 Aug 2017, 20:59
What I learned
I learned that when writing academic essays I should always find relevant sources to use so that I support the information that I have provided.
I also learned that I have to locate and evaluate information firstly before I use the source.
What I want to learn?
I want to know how will I know if the source is related to the topic I am dealing with.
Review Unit 1:Processing information analysing the topic.
26 Jul 2017, 11:32
What I know? I know that when I'm formulating a topic of academic assay I should try to be specific and focus on the main thing that I said I will talk about.I also have to get all points in the introduction.
What I want to know? I want to know if the topic should be in a form of a sentence or even if it is only one or two words is fine.
8What I learned? I learned that working with groups can help me to achieve more because the group shared different views and ideas and when we did not understand the lecturer was there to assist us.
What I love about the lecturer is that she is so friendly and approachable.
