STUDY UNIT 5 : LESSON PLANNING
The significance of writing a lesson plan is frequently lost in the academic process, and the grade of the lesson becomes the goal rather than the meaningful construction of the lesson and learning the technique of organizing your thoughts. Students frequently believe that writing a lesson plan is only used in the classroom. However, in order to be carried out, all professions require the organization of a plan of action, including the articulation of goals and objectives to achieve them, followed by a reflection or assessment of its effectiveness. It is based with these questions: What are you going to do? How are you going to go about it? And how will you evaluate your performance? A lesson plan is a document used in education.
When planning music (or other) lessons, think about how you’re teaching and learning activities will accommodate your students' various needs and abilities. You must create a teaching and learning environment in which all students feel welcomed, safe, supported, valued, and as if they are a part of something bigger. You must also create teaching and learning activities that take into account your students' various learning
As a teacher, you will be required to teach a specific set curriculum in the classroom that adheres to the curriculum for the majority of the time. This does not, however, imply that the lesson must be lacking of inspiration. Whatever your topic, there is almost certainly an arts-related activity that can be applied or integrated with Arts Integration information. When you are inspired, it is much easier to create a good lesson plan. A song, an instrument, timbre, vocal sound, poem, story, rhythm, speech pattern, etc. can serve as your inspiration for music or an integrated lesson plan. To reach all types of student learners, creative problem solving necessitates the ability to see and manipulate your lesson material in different ways, and other music education methods provide easily implemented solutions for adding cognitively challenging musical layer styles and musical preferences, as well as their socio-cultural backgrounds.

STUDY UNIT 4: ARTS INTEGRATION
Arts Integration
is a method of teaching in which students construct and prove understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area and meets objectives
Learners deal with real-world challenges.
They find creative solutions to problems.
Learners reflect on their own learning and the meaning of their learning experience.Activities are accompanied by music. There might not be any direct link between the musical concepts, teaching, and learning.Musical activities work together to reach a non-musical outcome. Music is not the final product of the activity.
Musical concepts are experienced and reinforced. Music is the final product of the activity.Musical activities are linked directly to musical concepts. Music determines which activity to do.Theoretical knowledge is shared with learners.
- Learners have to use prior knowledge.
- Learners have to be actively involved.
- Learners receive holistic and authentic learning experiences.
Arts education nurtures creativity, curiosity, and motivation. It allows for deep engagement with learning and shapes the way learners understand themselves and the world around them

Self-motivation
Music plays a good foundation for young pre-school learners as they find themselves spending most of their time playing between the rituals and routines of their daily life. In this regard, He also adds that exploration and play help the child’s brain to develop by improving his/her language, intellect and physical skills- thereby paving the way to the child’s development. Educators declared that play was important for developing learners cognitive, social, motor, language and interpersonal skills. Furthermore, the educators reported that play enabled learners to 1. Expand their imagination, 2. Become more emotionally mature, 3.enhance their state of school readiness, 4. Develop social skills, 5. Develop initiative, 6. Build and enhance their autonomy and sense of self, 7. Reveal their personalities and 8. Develop self-confidence and self-esteem.
The inclusion of arts helps improve learners’ academic performance and also promotes team-based-work ethic, and shared responsibilities. Arts provide cognitive, social and behavioural to students, which contribute to the development of young people academically, socially and environmentally
HOW DO MUSIC CONCEPTS AND RELATED EXPERIENCES RELATE TO LIFE SKILLS, MATHEMATICS AND LANGUAGE
22 Sep 2021, 22:29
Incorporating music into almost any class can be a great way to teach content. As educators we want to appropriately challenge each student-encouraging higher-order thinking, music is one tool to engage each student and provide a pathway for connections and deeper understand. There are ample opportunities for children to experience music in their day, including singing, moving, clapping or stomping that are not directly related to teaching content area but provide students an alternate form of expression, a chance to re-group and focus, for motivate, learn about proper group and individual expectations and behaviour, and to make transitions between subjects and activities.
Mathematics can be challenging for students to understand because the concepts are abstract, which is the main reason it’s important to provide visuals and manipulative to students when first teaching a concept. Musical notes can help teach fractions, changing instruments but playing the same song can help teach patterns, and using pitch can help with frequency and ratios
Literacy improves when a student is able to pick up on the patterns in the structure of language and is able to differentiate between pitches in words that sound similar but have different meanings. Music can be utilized as a metaphor to explain elements of a story such as character, setting, conflict and resolution using melodies, instruments, tempos, and dynamics as the teaching lesson.
