Who knew time would go by so quickly. This will be my last blog post for the year.Thank you to all my blog readers and that I can vent about the hectic week I had and and and.
Where to begin … When I first started this module I knew the basics to integrate music in al lesson, like singing a youtube song for introduction phase, but after completing this module I have learned to much on how to integrate different form of music in the lesson and make it unforgettable for learners.
The individual reflections have learned me a lot. It just gives you that final understanding of what you understand of the lesson. To be quiet honest I did find it challenging to keep up with some of the blog post as it is a week’s day due date. As stated above I definitely find the blog post meaningful as it gives you that final understanding. I would definitely change the time that put into the blog post to put more effort in them.
This whole module was very interesting for me the different ways that you can integrate music and how you can use music in the classroom to. I think everything in this module is necessary to use as a foundation phase teacher.

Hii Bloggers.
I’m feeling totally drained. I was sick last week (sinus infection) and that totally drained me. Then catching up on all the missed work and doing my full time work was just a bit too much. This week is better and I’m going on a little getaway weekend so hopefully that will help.
Some teachers think that it is not needed to assess Performing arts and music because it isn’t an important “subject. I have also noticed that there are less and less performing arts in school. Yes, schools still have their concerts but that isn’t a “curriculum performance” if you know what I mean. I also think that some teachers have this thinking that learners in foundation phase can’t do performing arts which is totally not true.
I would explain to the HOD that why assessment is important for the learners and themselves. Assessment is not only for the learners but sometimes you can also see as a teacher where you must give more attention on certain subjects etc. Assessment in the learner is extremely necessary as it will show their progress and will also boost their confidence. Learners need teachers who will tell them well done you have done great in this assessment.

Good day all my bloggers

What is vacation really ? In this working and distance studying I think we will all agree we don't get vacations....This week has been hectic AGAIN . With the blogs not working and keeping up with all the deadlines and the efundi updates its been a bit hectic. But we got through the week.

I don't think that to integrate arts in your lessons is a waste of time . Children learn so much faster when arts is integrated in lessons. They learn about music , cultures and so much more. The learners can express themselves through art and they emotions so it is very good for their emotional well being also. 

What I founded interesting about this study unit is the research behind what music can do in peoples/ learners lifes. We all know that music can change lifes but to be reminded what music can really do and realise what a beautiful art it really is .

I didn't really found anything challenging with this study unit and enjoyed it actually very much

This last two weeks has been hectic.... SO many due dates and deadlines then personal life and other priotities that must also get done and to top my week off I received a very bad mark on one of my assignments that really got me down. But we are looking forward and only improving the overall mark.

The scenario given we can clearly see that there was some learners that was uncomfortable as per culture reasons to take part of the activity. There was some learners that sung a song that they didn't understand a word about because it wasn't sung in their language. Secondly a girl was uncomfortable to dance in front of the boys as per culture reasons. The teacher must understand that she has a classroom with different culture and some may feel uncomfortable with the activities. So before preparing a lesson as this first do some research about the cultures in your classroom and ask the learners what they are comfortable with doing and what not.

My week has been hectic so far… And its only Tuesday. Personally I feel very overwhelmed at the moment with all the work for this upcoming week, nut trying to stay positive and putting in the hours to get everything in on time. Honestly what inhibited my learning this week is the stress of everything that is going on lately, it helps me stress a bit less to know that I have put in the hours that I could that day and keep my mind of other things.
The first thing that I became aware of in this study unit is the music notes. I never did any music in school and it always interest me what the notes actually mean, but never got the chance to research it. The most significant and most interesting about the study unit is the different types of music approaches that you get!
As a foundation phase teacher I would choose contemporary commercial music, simply because it includes popular music and film music that the learners will know. If the learners know the song the “new” or existing song will be much easier for the learners to learn, Learners will also keep the rhythm of the song much easier if they already know it. But also on the other hand as mentioned in the study unit it has to many jumps for foundation phase learners.
I think the content and examples in study unit 2 were inclusive. There were activities for learners to do which everyone could enjoy and no one will be left out.

I want to be a foundation phase teacher because it makes me happy to see learners learn something new each day, to see learners learn new skills that they will carry through the years .I'm excited about LSKM 221 this year to learn how to improve myself as a future teacher. Working at a daycare has learned me that children of younger age learn so much faster when they sing and dance. That is why music and movement is so important for learners of younger age . Personally I will try to integrate music and movement into my lessons as much as possible.As stated above I would choose music and movement to meet the holistic development as much as possible because learners learn so much easier with movement and music .
