My OH my! This semester is almost over. Can you believe it? surpriseAt the beginning of the semester, I didn't know what to expect from LSKM but then I found out that it is a module for "music". I was really excited to learn more about this module. I absolutely love music and arts so this really tickled my fancy.wink

I believe that individual reflection is a good thing due to the fact that it allows you to go through the work again and to interpret the skills and knowledge from the Study unit in your own words. It helps you understand the study unit better as it is like an in-depth discussion with yourself about what you learned from the study unit. cool

I found it challenging to keep up with the work pace as I have other responsibilities than studies to take care of and only get time to open my laptop at night when I’m completely drained. I didn't do my individual reflections as the semester went on and that made it hard for me to recall the knowledge I've learned earlier in the semester. sad

I found all of the study units very interesting as none of them would make sense all on their own. This module provides you with strategies, methods, and activities to use in your own classroom one day. As I said before everything, we learned in this module was valuable.wink

But as all things must come to an end this is where I'll have to say goodbye for now. Stay safe.

Study Unit Five

I think the main purpose of art neglect in the foundation phase is that there is not enough time in a school day to do everything in the program as well as the side art activities. Maybe in preschool children have more time for art because they play all day and learn the basics of each subject. I also think that preparing lesson plans and integrating art subjects also need a lot of time and effort in a day. I think it can make an educator's degree even more filling than it already is.wink The teachers really have a lot of pressure and stress for the children to complete everything well. The assessment of arts subjects in the founding stage is also time-consuming, and teachers do not always have the time to do part-time work.

This past week I actually observed the bigger students (grade 7s) at my school doing a performance on stage for marks. It really seemed like they were enjoying themselves and you could really see them expressing themselves during the performance. I was blown away and wish the Foundation phase could have the time to do fun things such as preforming a short story or play.enlightenedsurprise I feel that I would promote the importance of art assessment and art by making the Grade head and HOD’s aware that arts integration in the Foundation phase has a bigger benefit than they might think.cool

Without judging art, no importance is seen, and teachers and students do not try to teach or learn. When art is graded, the teacher will try to include art in the lesson plan and will make sure to take the time to explain to students because they need to understand and know what is being graded.cool

Study Unit Four

In my opinion art is most definitely not a waste of time or effort in the Foundation Phase. Art has the beauty of expressing the uniqueness of each child and lets them have fun whilst doing so. I feel that each child has to find themselves in their own way and art can help them do that by themselves and that goes for creating art, singing, making music or dancing. Art serves as a purpose to help learners learn new things in a fun and fascinating way. Using songs to learn new mathematics concepts to your class will help them understand and remember what they learned at the end of the lesson as that was another fun way of learning.

Study unit 4 provided a lot of fascinating and useful material that I could someday use to teach children art in my classroom. For me, it was about the benefits of the integrated method and how art integration creates a great learning environment and overall growth.smiley

What I found difficult with this learning unit was that I had to incorporate a lot of information and everything was important so I had to concentrate and incorporate it all at once.frown

Study Unit Three

In the Foundation Phase, one of the most important things to include in the classroom is learning via play. Music bursts all areas of child development and skills to succeed in school, not only because the learners are engaged and learning is spontaneous and enjoyable, but also because it ignites all areas of child development and skills to succeed in school. The vocabulary, language capabilities, emotions, and social skills of the students are all improved. Working on my projects has taught me a lot of topics that I had no idea were important for Foundation Phase students. I'm not sure how to tell the difference between three and four beats, or how to teach it to kids. I'd like to learn more about this subject in this module.

I would make learners feel safe to live out their culture and do what they believe is correct in order to accept varied learner profiles in classes. I plan to have classroom conversations in which students feel comfortable sharing about themselves. Learners will gain a better understanding of their peers and will be able to appreciate them, while I, as the teacher, will gain a better understanding of where the children come from and how to deal with future scenarios.cool

Study Unit Two

Since modern commercial music can be found nearly anywhere, I will certainly select it for my Foundation phase teaching career.heart The reasons for this are straightforward. In the movies and videos kids watch, they hear this type of music already. When they are introduced to it, they will really appreciate it and find it fascinating and will be able to sing along with the song, since they are familiar with it. laugh

Study unit 2 is inclusive in the sense that it includes examples from a variety of fields and provides the student with the necessary information to comprehend what he or she is studying. I would recommend that the illustration must be in all the establishment stage grades and not for the reviewed one. How the body reacts to music depends on how the music causes you to feel. Music can be the reason you to feel glad, dull, or absolutely energize you up. Be that as it may, in the homeroom music is exceptionally gainful and ought to be energized as it assists with the general improvement of the youngster. By fusing distinctive music components, for example, body percussion can work on the students' development and coordination abilities.

Study Unit One

This has been a very challenging time for me so far. I have been sooo busy.... frownI work at a school as a PE teacher and trust me I totally agree with the students when they say PE sucks. I really wish I had a better way to spend my time with the children other than to let them do exercises. My laptop didn't work as well, so I couldn't do any of the work. I was completely out of touch with everything. Luckily, I have module related Whatsapp groups that kept me in touch of everything and an IT guy at work that helped me sort out my laptop. After this all happened, I felt so relieved and ready to take on anything and everything.cheekysmiley

After completing the work of study unit one, I am pretty confident and thrilled about this module. I am able to demonstrate the ability to instruct music through dance and movement. I'm aware that at the Foundation level, teaching music and movement go hand in hand with each other and I’m self-assured by incorporating music into my teaching practice because I’ve witnessed a difference in the behavior of my students when they can move, dance, sing, and listen to music. I feel that music and dancing is a very important factor in a child’s development as they socialize and make friends that way. I can confidently state that music will undoubtedly aid in the formation of outstanding intellects and will open up a whole new universe to students.wink

The ability to concentrate through music also boosts the students' self-confidence, as they find making music rewarding. Children can express themselves through music. I believe that music gives us, as teachers, a better opportunity to help children develop holistically. Music helps to calm the mind and can most definitely help children who have difficulty in concentrating in a classroom setting. Students with dyslexia who find it difficult to complete a task which promotes their holistic development can be given the key to music in order to learn. In addition to improving cognitive development, attention, and multitasking, this also helps to ease the effects of stress.
