Hello everyone!
Assessments can be neglected because of teachers not really being an expert in this field of teaching. The teachers might not really know the correct way to assess the learners. Some under privileged schools might not have the facilities to have a music department and therefore there is no opportunity for children to be assessed or even learn about music. Not all schools have all of the different resources needed to make it possible. To perform and make use of arts you need resources and it you do not have all the resources it will not be possible.
I would advocate for and heighten awareness about the importance of assessment by showing proof of how music can benefit learners in many ways. I would also explain how learners enjoy music and how it can impact their lives positively. I will also tell the HOD that music and performing arts allows the learners to express themselves in the classroom and gives the learners a safe space. By providing different ideas and activities I will also tell the HOD the importance of how music can be implemented and what difference it makes in the learners’ lives.

Blogpost Study Unit 4 : Individual reflection
1. I would definitely disagree. I think that art integration in the foundation phase is very important. Small children have an innate love for music and movement and this opportunity can be used effectively by adding elements of exploration and discovering fun and play in the classroom. An interdisciplinary approach between the various art forms such as dance, music, drama, visual arts, arts technology and communication is required in the Grade R-3.
By integrating art activities the learners will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills, they experience personal and social wellbeing and their love for music, movement and arts are enhanced.
I feel that art integration holds may benefits in developing all these factors in the young Foundation Phase children. It is a way of expressing what they have learnt through art, whether it be drawings or drama performances. This will also result in them remembering what they have learnt better.
2. Aspects that I found interesting were the ways in which arts integration can support the holistic development of a child and how it can promote a positive learning environment. This Study Unit also shows us how to incorporate music into the daily routines in the class and how important it is. Learning arts can build a bridge to a better learning experience for youngsters from disadvantaged circumstances.

Studie Eenheid 3 was vir my baie interessant en meningvol. Ek het baie geleer en agter gekom hoe belangrik musiek in die Grondslagfase is.
Ek het geleer dat daar meer daaraan is as om net te 'speel' wanneer dit kom by kinders in die Grondslagfase-toneelstuk. Kinders leer deur middel van spel; dit is gestig deur talle kognitiewe ontwikkelingsprogramme. Ek het geleer dat daar verskillende tipes spel is: Gratis spel, begeleide spel en gerigte spel; en dat die leerders verskillende vaardighede en konsepte ontwikkel deur elke tipe spel. Ook, die verskillende tipe vlakke van sosiale spel het my geleer dat kinders op verskillende ouderdomsgroepe verhoudings bou en die ontwikkeling van belangrike sosiale vaardighede deur elke vlak van die spel leer. Die konsep wat die meeste vir my uitgestaan het, is die sewe elemente van die spel; dit het my 'n ander uitkyk oor spel gewys en hoe belangrik spel regtig in die klaskameromgewing is.
Wat e kook geleer het en nie self daaraan gedink het nie, is om in die toekoms, as liedjies gekies word, ek eers die leerders die betekenis van die lirieke leer as dit 'n ander taal as hul eie is, dit sal verseker dat die leerders maklik kan verband hou met waarna geluister of gesing word. Hulle sal deel van die groep voel en nie uitgesluit word van die aktiwiteit nie.

Soos ek deur studie eenheid 2 gegaan het, het ek geleer hoe musiek so uiteenlopend en inklusief in die onderwys is. Dit stel onderwysers in staat om leerders holisties te leer. Leerders kan al hul sintuie gebruik wanneer hulle oor musiek leer en die beste deel is dat dit in alle leerareas in die grondslagfase gebruik kan word. Onderwysers kan musiekspeletjies, musiek patters, ritme en liggaamsperkussie tydens wiskunde,taal- en lewensvaardigheidsles gebruik om die leerders se leerervaring te verryk. Musiek is ook kalmerend vir leerders wat sukkel om te leer. Musiek laat leerders toe om tydens hierdie lesse spesiaal te voel, selfs al is hulle dalk nie ‘n uitblinker in die vak of in die leerarea nie.
Ten slotte is dit belangrik vir leerders om met die musiek en die inhoud daarvan kontak te maak. Onderwysers moet musiek kies wat toepaslik by die spesifieke ouderdom is, sodat kinders in staat is om 'n verband te maak met die musiek en dat hulle dit geniet om daarna te luister . Dit is ook belangrik vir onderwysers om 'n verskeidenheid musiek te kies wat verband hou met alle leerderkulture en belangstellings sodat alle leerders dit kan geniet. As 'n kind veilig en veilig voel terwyl hulle leer, sal hulle met gemak kan leer.v
